OKKIO is our beach bar on the west coast of Chalkidiki, at Vergia near Nea Kallikratia — a sandy, shallow Blue Flag beach thirty-five minutes from Thessaloniki. Fringed parasols, low sunbeds and palms stand on the sand; the bar and kitchen are a few steps back.
Come for a coffee and stay for the afternoon. The service is easy, the music is kept low in the heat of the day, and the evenings are for long drinks while the gulf turns gold.
From first coffee to last light
Morning
Freddo espresso or cappuccino in the shade, the beach still quiet and the water flat and clear.
Midday
Sunbeds under the parasols, cold drinks brought to you, and lunch from the kitchen — pizza, souvlaki platters, salads.
Sunset
The Thermaic Gulf turns gold, the music comes up a little, and the cocktail list comes out.

Not usually. On summer weekends and in August, it helps to call ahead.
